About the mix:
The mix is a compilation of different genres in one mix taking the Floaters on a musical journey, maybe a journey out of this space. One of many reasons why I chose the different genres in one mix is that initially, this brand started off as two individuals who wanted to create something that does not label nor categorize instead allowing individuals to surround themselves with other humans. This is the same reason why I chose to compile different genres so that we get different listeners of each genre to come as one and just enjoy music, cause after all it is a universal language that allows us to connect with many different people across the globe.
About Senhora:
SenhorÂ, 24 years of age, born and raised in Cape Town South Africa, is known as a bubbly and energetic person who started her craft in DJing at the young age of 18. At the age of 16, she started to think of making professional advancements to perfect her craft. She discovered and made use of the software called “Virtual DJ” to bring life to her sets. Soon after reaching the age of 18, Senhor grew an interest in DJing within the entertainment scene. Her musical interests began early in her younger years, at age of 9, when Senhor first started taking piano lessons in primary school. She committed for 4 years and her passions continued to develop.
I’m an Alumnus from the prestigious Academy of Sound Engineering, having graduated with a diploma in Audio Technology: Broadcasting & Radio. I can proudly say that I am officially a certified Avid Operator in learning, this was my latest achievement through school. I’ve had a valued experience DJing at the KOMBO, Fresher’s Gqom Nation as well the SAIGE Events, and many other local events within the nation. I see it to be these types of spaces are mainly where my work got some good recognition. My greatest achievement in my musical journey was being televised on a youth show called Hectic Nine – 9 on SABC 2 which aired on 26 October 2018. That experience allowed me to do what I love the most on a public platform allowing me to expand further as an upcoming artist. I performed as the ‘’Hype DJ’’ for the day and I was supported by my band called Viibes. After performing live with them, I soon moved on to grab the opportunity to DJ live, at the AKA SuperMega concert on the 15 March in 2019 as an artist DJ of two artists named ChingaTime and Yamz. I’ve also performed alongside two established artist in the Hip Hop industry, known as, Blxckie and including JMolley, at the Culture Vated Event on the 8 October during 2021. I am currently also working alongside K Keed as her DJ. These were definitely some of my highlighted experiences throughout my journey thus far.
I’d say as ‘SENHORÂ’, I could confidently note that I am a diverse Dj, who has also Dj’d for the New Wave artists such as Dee Koala, LookAtUps, Blaqslim and K Keed. I am capable of playing all types of genres but the more specific genres which I excel in mixing the most are House, Deep House, Afro House/Tech, Electronic House, Pop, Amapiano and Gqom. I’ve performed at many different types of events, which have added to the respect of my craft. To name a few, these events included: Young Blood Art Gallery, No Mad Bar for Foreign Exchange students, Club 169 for Rainbow Queer Festival, Wonderland Club for online streaming, Saint Lounge, Waiting Room, Ukhamba Beerworx in Waterfront, Blondie and many more. Not only have I performed across Cape Town, but I’m honored that my mixtapes have also been aired on a few radio stations such as YFm and 5Fm. I am also a resident DJ at The Other Radio which is an online station, broadcasting the sounds of ‘The Other’ as well as their friends who are based in Cape Town, South Africa, representing an inclusive and diverse selection of DJs, shows, and other perspectives from around the World
