Meet Ewald Rist, a 20-year-old student and freelance illustrator from Cape Town, South Africa. For Ewald, “Illustration is all about the freedom of drawing anything and everything”.
The Cape Town local has been drawing since the age of 9. Ewald finds inspiration in things like old school record covers, the many gig posters that make up part of the local street environment as well as just the local culture. Ewald prefers to keep the process old school, starts with an organic hand-drawn pencil sketch, before inking, scanning and digitally colouring the drawings.
